Wow....color me shocked. My last post was 3 1/2 months ago. And it's been at least that long since I wrote anything else. Deep sigh. On the good side of things, I feel it stirring....dormant seeds are just beginning to tickle out shoots, juuuuussssttt starting to crack their hard shells open. I feel it; WORDS are poking microscopic filaments out of those seed cases, seeking light, and air. It's kinda cool. I don't want to direct full-on attention to the birthing just yet, lest they retreat under my direct gaze. So I cast sidelong glances in their direction, and smile as I feel them staring to move, and am soooo carefully brushing away a bit of the debris standing between them and sunlight. They didn't leave me forever! They just...hibernated...and as they slept I've moved to a different place within that process, an acceptance, maybe even a trusting I haven't had before.
I wish I could remember where I saw this image on facebook so that I could properly credit it; I hope that the creator, whoever she/he is, and the original poster, will forgive the lack of credit and permission asked:

So I am trying again....slowly, carefully, not-too-fast....nurturing rather demanding, allowing rather than fearing.
And on another note (though related in my own mind), I just encountered some words of wisdom by Shawn Achor, who wrote a book (I haven't read) called The Happiness Advantage. He recommends six 'happiness exercises', the first of which is to write down three things you're grateful for that occurred over the last 24 hours. And he says they can be as simple as a good cup of coffee (for which I am ALWAYS grateful!!!), or the warmth of a sunny day. So on this Sunday morning when I woke hours before I needed to, let me write three of them here:
1. I'm grateful for whatever magic is bringing the writing back, that the Muse, Creativity, Magic, or Whatever, hasn't left. I'm grateful that those first stirrings are bringing joy rather than resistance and fear.
2. I'm grateful I got to go to the indoor Farmer's Market yesterday, and bring home fresh delicious shoots (radish, pea, sunflower and cress) and fragrant, crazy-good Poha .
3. I'm grateful that I have weekends off now, and can sit here on a Sunday morning knowing it's my day to do with as I choose. Changing jobs can carry risks, but four months in, switching from 'Youth Program Administrator' in library 26 miles away to 'Office Manager' at a non-profit 7 miles away, feels like a very good decision. And one of the joys of it is that weekends are my own.
Can you think of three things to be grateful for today?
